Designed to equip you with the skills to teach, this program is a unique learning opportunity – whether you envision yourself as a full-time or part-time teacher, a substitute teacher, or even a tutor.
ADEK is sponsoring the 1-year program for the first cohort of selected candidates. All graduates will be fast-tracked for recruitment across charter schools in Abu Dhabi.

What is the “Kon Moallim” (Become a Teacher) Program?
It is a recruitment program that opens education to individuals from all sectors and fields to bring their life or work experience to the classroom. It includes a fully sponsored one-year accredited postgraduate diploma in education, that aims to train professionals from diverse fields to become qualified teachers employed across Charter Schools.
How many candidates will be selected for the program?
The first cohort will include 125 candidates. If you are not selected to be part of this cohort and if you wish to be a teacher, you can still apply -separately- to the universities who offer this 1-year diploma and become a teacher at a later date.
Do I need a background in education to apply?
No, this program aims to attract professionals from all sectors to bring their real life and work experience into the classroom and enrich the students’ learning experience.
Will participants be paid a salary during training?
Selected program candidates will have their tuition covered but they will only be entitled to a salary once they successfully complete the program and join Charter Schools as teachers.
Is it guaranteed that all participants who graduate from the first cohort will be hired afterwards?
Candidates who successfully complete the one-year diploma and training will be hired across Abu Dhabi’s charter schools.
What is the schedule of the program? How many days a week? Afternoon or morning timing?
The schedule depends on the university, but most programs will be between 3 to 5 days a week. The schedule details will be communicated to selected candidates along with program enrolment confirmation.
What are the core learning outcomes of this course?
The course prepares selected candidates to understand the concepts, principles and foundations of teaching strategies to equip them with practical skills for classroom teaching, curriculum design and student assessment. This is done through a mix of theory and practical training as part of the one-year diploma.
Upon completion, successful candidates will be able to:

How do I apply?
Visit apply.adek.ae, which includes the details of this program and has click-through buttons for registration of interest. Once you click through, you will be redirected to a form which will ask you to fill in your personal details, background information such as your education and experience, and a two-minute video to explain why you want to become a teacher.
Can I submit a video at a later date?
You can only submit a register your interest form once you record the video. You can record the video once you reach the section at the end of the form and you have the flexibility to re-record: If you’re not satisfied with your video, don’t worry—you can re-record it as many times as you like. Only your final recording will be saved and included in your application.

Does taking part in this program guarantee a job?
Selected candidates who successfully complete the accredited postgraduate diploma in education and all the training requirements, will be hired as Charter Schools teachers.

Is the 1-year accredited post-graduate program free?
For the first cohort this year, candidates who meet all the eligibility requirements will be fully sponsored by ADEK.
If I am selected as a candidate for the program and I am currently holding a job, can I still attend the courses?
Due to the requirements of the program, you are expected to be a full-time learner as many components of the programs take place during the workday.
Is the program delivered in-person or does it have online sessions/hybrid setting?
Programs are primarily all in-person with some sessions being offered online at the discretion of the institution. The programs will also include both theoretical and practical training and be offered in both Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
What language is the program delivered in? Is there a program in Arabic?
Selected candidates will be attending the 1-year program at 1 of 3 universities (Al Ain University, Abu Dhabi University and the Emirates College of Advanced Education). Candidates attending Al Ain University will have the option of taking the program in English or Arabic. However, all candidates are expected to have a minimum English language proficiency as some core subjects (like AI-focused studies) will be delivered in English only across all programs.

Do I have to submit a video as part of my submission?
Yes, you are required to record a short video to help us better understand your background, why you are interested in being a teacher and what skills from your own life and/or work experience will give you an advantage when teaching. Please note that the video is a must and your submission will not be considered complete without it.
Is it possible for people from abroad who are not residents in the UAE to apply?
Currently this program is accepting applicants from within the UAE only, expats and nationals residing in the country.
What roles are available after graduation?
Graduates can work as full-time, part-time, substitute teachers across Abu Dhabi’s Charter Schools.
